Sponsoring Teacher: Uma Parasuraman and Koyel Ghosh
Sponsor School: Mount Litera Zee School, Howrah
City: Kolkata
Country: India
Name of Project:

BOOKS- OUR ETERNAL COMPANION

Goal of the Project:

Trying to revive the habit of reading books in students again. Due to the advent of technology children have become more and more obsessed to the digital medium and  and more averse to reading books . Through this project we are motivating Children to take some time out to read classics from their own countries and other countries too and thus develop an appreciation to the literary contributions of literary stalwarts of different genre. Technology- their favourite tool can be judiciously used to achieve this goal.

Contributions from our partner schools

1) We would request the Children to fill a survey. The questionnaire pattern will be provided by us and we would like atleast 5 entries from Children (Few examples of questions in the survey, to write a short write-up on the last book they had read, what appealed to them in that book, favourite character in the book etc. Once the Child does that, We would provide them with a book ( E books can be provided if necessary) from another country and give them 7 days to read the same. We would then conduct a story telling session on Skype where the assigned students  will narrate the story to the students. It will be an interactive session where each child can hone their public speaking skills.

2) Now let's come out with some tips on how to enrich our intellect by reading books. They will add 10 new words from their vocabulary after reading the book and share it with their collaborative school friends. Hence each child will benefit from the same by adding new words to their vocabulary.

Stage 1: Date of Submission for the survey( Questionnaire will be shared by 30/10/15): 7th November

Stage 2: Book reading session- 16th November, 2015

Stage 3: Skype story telling session- 18/19th November,2015

Stage 4: Create your own dictionary- 25tth November, 2015
